Things to have/do at your wedding!

When I got married in 2018, I knew there were certain things that I just absolutely needed to have at my wedding. Amazing food and photos were at the top of my list. Since most of our family came from out of state (we got married in Raleigh, North Carolina), we hosted a welcome dinner the night before our big day. We had catered southern bbq- it was soooo good! I highly recommend having a welcome dinner with whoever is in town the night before so you have more time with your guests.

Our wedding day food was pretty spectacular if you ask me! Tons of passed appetizers, like sliders, chicken & waffles, cheese dips, etc. We also did a dessert bar for after dinner with little take home bags for our guests. Oh and I almost forgot about the s’mores and hot chocolate. I’m telling you, it was a foodie’s dream! If I could go back in time, I would relive our wedding day over and over.

Okay, enough about the food! Here’s my list of some must dos for your big day:

  • A first look with your soon to be husband or wife

  • Family photos before your ceremony (trust me). Also, make a list of all the different pairings you want and give that to your photographer. This will keep the family photos moving quickly!

  • An after ceremony getaway time for the newlyweds (my husband and I escaped during cocktail hour to share some appetizers and drinks privately for a few minutes to enjoy being freshly married!)

  • Golden hour portraits for the new couple right after the getaway time

  • Music that you enjoy, after all this day is about you guys!I supplied the dj with a bunch of songs that I liked. I didn’t want the traditional wedding playlist.

I could go on and on about some other important things like how to hire the right vendors to make your day run smoothly, but I’ll save that for a different blog post.

Thanks for reading! Here’s some photos from my wedding day!
